County-by-county Tailored Plan map
Behavioral Health Tailored Plans are run by four LME/MCOs, and which one covers you depends on the county you live in. This is the assignment map effective February 1, 2024. It's useful to know, but you don't have to figure it out yourself — bring us your card and we'll verify.
Note: Standard Plan members are not assigned by county. If your card names UnitedHealthcare, Healthy Blue, AmeriHealth Caritas, Carolina Complete, or WellCare, this map doesn't apply to you. County assignments can also be updated by the state — always confirm against your current card.

North Carolina's treatment gap is not evenly distributed. The metros have clinics with waitlists; large stretches of the coastal plain and the mountains have very few buprenorphine prescribers at all. For a person in withdrawal, a 90-minute drive is not a minor inconvenience — it is the reason treatment doesn't happen.
Video visits remove distance from the equation. They also remove the parking lot problem: in a small county, being seen walking into the local treatment clinic carries a real social cost. There is no building to be seen entering here.

Statewide questions
Look at the name printed on your Medicaid card. If it names UnitedHealthcare Community Plan, Healthy Blue, AmeriHealth Caritas, Carolina Complete Health, or WellCare, you are on a Standard Plan. If it names Alliance, Partners, Trillium, or Vaya, you are on a Behavioral Health Tailored Plan, which is assigned by county. We're in-network either way, and we verify it for you before your visit.
It determines which Tailored Plan you'd fall under if you're a Tailored Plan member, and county assignments do change over time. It does not affect whether we can treat you — we hold contracts with all four LME/MCOs and all five Standard Plans.
