North Carolina Medicaid

We're in-network with every North Carolina Medicaid plan. For most members, there is no copay for the visit or the medication.

Commercial insurance and Medicare

What you pay under a commercial plan depends on your deductible, your copay or coinsurance, and whether you've met your out-of-pocket maximum for the year. Plans that cover behavioral health — which nearly all do — typically cover medication for opioid use disorder.

We check your specific benefits before the first visit and tell you the expected cost up front. If the number doesn't work for you, say so and we'll talk about options.

If you're uninsured

Start by asking whether you qualify for North Carolina Medicaid. Since expansion, many working adults do who didn't before. We can check eligibility and help you enroll — and in many cases begin care while enrollment is in process.

Self-pay: $300 per month

If you are not using insurance, treatment is available on a self-pay basis for $300 per month. Self-pay is an alternative to billing insurance, not an additional charge — if we are billing your plan or North Carolina Medicaid, you are not charged this fee.

The monthly fee includes your initial evaluation, medically appropriate follow-up visits, prescription management, and secure portal communication with the practice during that month.

Not included: prescription medication and pharmacy charges, laboratory testing, emergency care, and services provided by other organizations. Those are billed separately by whoever provides them.

A valid payment card must remain on file. The $300 fee is charged to that card within 24 hours after the appointment that begins each monthly service period.

What about the medication itself?

The prescription is filled at your pharmacy and billed to your pharmacy benefit, separately from the visit. Generic buprenorphine/naloxone is widely available and is generally the lowest-cost option. If cost is a problem at the pharmacy counter, tell us — there is usually something we can do about it.
